Vespa Motor Scooters

Vespa motor scooters are one of the oldest names in the scooter business. Vespa motor scooters are the most classic moped scooters in the world, and are produced by Piaggio of Genoa, Italy. Vespa is the Italian word for wasp, which the president of the original manufacturer exclaimed in the mid-1940s after first seeing what would become the most successful scooter of all time.

Vespa scooters are Italian made and are sold along with Vespa-branded apparel, accessories and perfume at many boutiques around the country. Vespa motor scooters are smart and fun alternatives that reduce gas consumption, provide economic and environmental benefits, and cut traffic congestion.

Vespa has modernized its line of late with new designs. Vespa motor scooters have been recognized for their painted, pressed steel unibody from their original release. These scooters can achieve speeds between 40 mph and 100 mph and get fuel economy as good as 70 mpg. Vespa has always been synonymous with freedom of expression, and the Vespa S invites buyers to show their creative side with six new optional graphic kits.

Vespa has a standard line of scooters with engine sizes ranging from the small-town grocery getter 50 cc LX to the highway cruising, 80 mph, 250 cc, fuel-injected GTS model. Sales of these gas-sipping Vespas are up 40 percent so far this year and a hybrid Vespa, that promises to get 140-miles-per-gallon, is due next year.

All new Vespa Motor Scooters are supplied with a 24 month warranty included in the purchase price. Prices for new Vespas range from $1,800 for the 50cc scooters to as much as $8,000 for larger models. Prices of used scooters are all over the map. Some prices are higher, as even used models still pull $2000 to $4500 depending on condition; and vintage Vespas, like those favored by celebrities, can be very expensive depending on condition.
